Calcite Humane Society
calcCalcite Credit Union recently hosted a successful fundraiser surrounding a cutest pet contest. Each one of their three branches hosted their own individual contest. All proceeds from the contest will be donated to the Cheboygan County Humane Society.

Each branch set up a display in their lobby. Members were allowed to enter their pets into the contest along with submitting a photo to display for the price of $1. Jars were then put out to coincide with a number of each entry. Between three branches for just one month, Calcite raised more than $1,500 in just jar donations alone.

“My office is right outside of where the display was located in our Rogers City branch. I haven’t seen a buzz among members in quite sometime that this Cutest Pet Contest was stirring up,” said Alec Gajewski, Calcite’s administrative assistant. “Children were constantly asking for dollars to put in the jars, members were coming in daily to check results, even employees were getting into the contest with each other. If I would go out in public I would get asked daily who was winning the contest. Our Posen branch is in a unique farming area. The entries we had in Posen ranged from dogs and cats to cows and goats! Everyone was getting into and really enjoyed raising money for such a great cause.

“The Cheboygan County Humane Society was shocked how much money we had raised for them. We were also surprised about how successful the entire contest was. We are certainly looking forward to 2020’s pet contest, and it will be bigger and better!”
