Genisys CEO Jackie Buchanan Inducted into Credit Union House Hall of Leaders

holOn March 3, Genisys Credit Union CEO Jackie Buchanan was one of 18 credit union champions inducted into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders in recognition of significant contributions to the credit union industry. The induction ceremony took place Tuesday evening at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C.

The Credit Union House Hall of Leaders Award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the credit union movement at the local, state or national level. Inductees are recognized for their passion for the movement, vision for the future and bold leadership that strengthens credit unions and the members they serve.

With more than 30 years of experience in the credit union industry, Buchanan has led Genisys with a strong commitment to the cooperative philosophy of “people helping people.” Under her leadership, Genisys has grown into the fourth-largest credit union in Michigan, serving nearly 300,000 members and holding more than $5 billion in assets.

Genisys is a consistent top performer in political action committee fundraising among Michigan credit unions and nationally, and Buchanan and her team are regular participants at MCUL’s GAC and Hike the Hill and America’s Credit Unions’ GAC, where they help educate policymakers on key legislative and regulatory priorities.

“Hall of Leaders inductees embody the very best of the credit union movement, raising the bar for member service, advancing collaboration across the credit union community and advocating to safeguard the not-for-profit, cooperative financial services model,” said Troy Stang, Credit Union House Chair in announcing the 2026 class. “We are sincerely grateful for the meaningful contributions they have made — and continue to make — to strengthen credit unions and the members they serve.”

In addition to her advocacy leadership, Buchanan remains actively engaged across the credit union industry and her community. She serves as CUSG's Board Chair, sits on the boards of Velera and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and is a former chair and current board member of Lighthouse, a Michigan-based organization committed to ending homelessness and hunger.

Buchanan’s stewardship has also helped Genisys earn national recognition for operational and financial excellence, including multiple Crystal Performance Awards from Raddon Financial Group and repeated designation as a Best-in-State Credit Union by Forbes.

The Credit Union House has served as the epicenter of credit union advocacy in Washington, D.C. since 2001. It provides a space where credit union leaders and policymakers come together to share ideas, build relationships and advance the mission of cooperative financial services. Credit Union House is owned by every statewide credit union association and league, the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) and America’s Credit Unions.
