AC&E 2018: Charity Golf Outing and Corks for a Cause

The Michigan Credit Union League’s 84th Annual Convention & Exposition kicked off on Wednesday with a day of fun and networking — all in the name of fundraising.

Golf Outing

Golfers

More than 150 Michigan credit union professionals hit the links at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa’s golf course on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon for the annual charity golf outing. The golfers raised approximately $32,000 benefiting both the Children’s Miracle Network and the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF).

Corks for a Cause

Corks for a Cause

On Wednesday evening, attendees gathered at the third annual Corks for a Cause, the MCUF-hosted social event that doubles as an opportunity to raise funds for community development outreach.

This year’s event was held at the Aerie Restaurant & Lounge on the 16th floor of the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, which offered attendees a great view of the sunset hitting the Grand Traverse Bay.

This year’s Corks for a Cause saw 372 bottles of wine sold, which resulted in $22,203 raised for MCUF. Those funds will be used to help credit unions make a bigger impact in Michigan through community reinvestment grants and financial education initiatives.

Corks for a Cause has substantially grown each year in both attendance and funds raised. Since 2016, the event has raised $36,463 for the Foundation.

MCUF thanks the Crashers for their help in hosting the event, and Corks’ 19 business sponsors, including the Diamond-level sponsor, Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union.
