Almost $700 Donated to The Salvation Army in Adrian Supermarket Sweep
On Feb. 19, American 1 Credit Union hosted their second annual Supermarket Sweep at the Country Market in Adrian. Contestants competed to gather the most groceries within five minutes. All groceries were donated to the Salvation Army of Adrian.
American 1 has hosted several charity Supermarket Sweeps in the past. This year’s teams included Adrian College, Adrian District Library, Croswell Opera House, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan, Siena Heights University, WLEN Radio and American 1. Goodwill took home first place collecting 51 out of 66 items followed by Croswell Opera House and Adrian College. In total, 326 items were donated to The Salvation Army of Adrian valued at $700.
“We are thrilled to be able to give back to our community in such a fun way,” said American 1 Brand Marketing Manager Jorden Griffin. “We couldn’t think of a better organization to donate to than The Salvation Army, and we are appreciative of the local businesses and organizations who joined us today.”
As with all American 1 events, the primary focus of the Adrian Supermarket Sweep is giving back to the community. American 1 is proud to host positive events like the Supermarket Sweep as a way to give back to the people who make their communities great.
Credit Union ONE Walks for Warmth
A team of more than 50 Credit Union ONE employees and family members participated in the 29th annual Walk for Warmth, benefiting the Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency (OLHSA), hosted at Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall on Feb. 9.
The Walk For Warmth is an annual fundraising event to promote awareness and provide support to those facing heat related emergencies in Oakland and Livingston counties through the emergency utility assistance program.
Credit Union ONE participated as a sponsor along with a team of walkers for the 12th year in a row. The event grows each year as the participation level of walkers and sponsors continues to increase.
“How appropriate this fundraising walk is especially this year, with the snow and cold that we have had since the first of the year,” said Credit Union ONE Vice President of Community Relations John Kozich. “This is a great way to help those in need, and to make an impact in the community.”

FPCU is Giving Away a $1,500 Classroom Makeover to a Teacher in Genesee County and Saginaw County School Districts
Financial Plus Credit Union (FPCU) is bringing back their award-winning FPCU Love’s Teachers Classroom Giveaway. They want to provide two deserving and hardworking teachers, one in Genesee County and one in Saginaw County, with a classroom makeover worth $1,500 each.
This one-of-a kind opportunity will help enhance and improve the winning teachers’ classroom. In 2018, Financial Plus received the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award through this initiative.
“Teachers play such a critical role in the development of our future generation. We’re inspired by their dedication and passion and wanted to find a way to give back to them. When we came up with the classroom makeover, we were so overwhelmed with the response and stories we received and decided to extend it into Genesee County as well,” said FPCU Area Branch Manager Michelle Thompson.
