American 1 Credit Union Paws & Claws Pet Expo Fundraises for the Cascades Humane Society

On Feb. 13, despite the weather, several hundred area residents attended the American 1 Credit Union Paws & Claws Pet Expo in Jackson and helped raise funds to benefit the Cascades Humane Society (CHS).

All vendor fees, concession proceeds, craft area donations, and contest proceeds, which totaled $4,000, were donated to CHS. CHS also received donated items for the shelter such as pet food, toys and litter.

The event had a Pet Fashion show which featured animals from CHS that were available for adoption with several finding good homes. This year’s Top Dog Model award went to the lovable Lady, who sauntered down the dog walk and was most certainly a crowd favorite. The Facebook Pet Photo Contest had over 100 entries. The winner was Connie Strine with her pups Pebbles and Izzy.

The credit union makes no proceeds, and covers the cost of all expenses beyond what is raised. There were also several animals available for adoption from Cascades Humane Society.
