Michigan Credit Unions Rank Among Top States in 2025 Youth & Adult Financial Education Efforts
The Credit Union Financial Education Network (CUFEN) has released its 2025 Annual Report, detailing student and adult financial education outreach from July 2024 through June 2025. Once again, Michigan credit unions remain among the top performers nationally—continuing a long-standing commitment to financial empowerment across the state.
According to the latest report, Michigan credit unions ranked second in total students reached, engaging 59,384 students through thousands of financial education touchpoints. Michigan also ranked first in total student presentations, delivering 2,455 presentations during the reporting period.
On the adult education side, Michigan credit unions reached 13,629 adults, ranking fifth nationally, and delivered 543 adult presentations, placing them third among all states.
In total, Michigan credit unions reached 73,013 residents through CUFEN-tracked financial literacy efforts this year—demonstrating strong, consistent community impact. Nationwide, credit unions reached 407,302 students and 148,441 adults through 12,182 student presentations and 5,418 adult presentations.
“Michigan credit unions consistently step up as leaders in delivering financial education across their communities,” said Andrea Tucker, Executive Director of the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF). “Whether it’s teaching good financial habits to young people or helping adults navigate everyday financial decisions, our credit unions are committed to improving financial lives statewide.”
“What stands out to me in this report is how clearly the numbers reflect the daily commitment of our entire credit union movement,” said Patty Corkery, CEO of the Michigan Credit Union League. “Financial education remains a fundamental part of how Michigan credit unions help people build stability and confidence in their financial lives.”
The CUFEN report also highlights Michigan credit unions recognized nationally for their leadership in financial education, including: Extra Credit Union, LOC Credit Union, TRUE Community Credit Union, TLC Community Credit Union, Diversified Members Credit Union and Limestone Financial Credit Union.
