TRUE Community Credit Union Partners to Support Juneteenth Scholarships for Local Students

Local students in the Jackson community are receiving support to pursue their educational goals through a collaborative scholarship effort tied to the city’s Juneteenth Celebration.

TRUE Community Credit Union has partnered with Dawn Foods and the Muray Family to support scholarships that assist graduating high school seniors, current college students and individuals pursuing or completing skilled trades certificates as they take the next step in their educational journeys. Through this partnership, scholarship support is helping students continue their education and build futures grounded in opportunity, purpose and community impact.

Dawn Foods, the Muray Family, and TRUE Community Credit Union share a commitment to strengthening the Jackson community through education and inclusive support. Together, the organizations are helping create pathways for students to continue learning, growing and contributing to their communities.

“Supporting students as they pursue their educational goals is one of the most meaningful ways we can create legacy-defining moments by investing in the future of our community,” said Sarah Ermatinger, TRUECCU Chief Community Impact Officer. “Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and progress, and we are honored to stand alongside Dawn Foods and the Muray Family to help students step confidently into their next chapter.”

The scholarships are designed to empower students who have demonstrated determination, leadership, and a commitment to their future. For many recipients, the support represents more than financial assistance. It serves as a reminder that their community is invested in their success and believes in their potential.

The initiative is part of the Jackson Juneteenth Celebration’s broader commitment to honoring freedom, celebrating culture, and investing in future leaders. By helping remove financial barriers and encouraging students to pursue college, trade programs, and other post secondary pathways, the partnership reflects a shared belief in the power of education to create lasting change.

Recipients of the 2026 Jackson Juneteenth Celebration scholarships include London Brown, Michaela Brown, A’Leeyah Bynum, Jahnai Ganaway, Xavier Gibbs, Jadelyn Gibson, Tyshon Gray, Justice Hampton, Kialye Harrell, Kyla Johnson, Shaniah Mohead, Amaurion Moore, Lyndard Oliver II, Grace Parker, Jayden Potter, Jazzmyne Schultz, Javen Tumey, Parris Union, Mahoganey Ware, Amir Hicks and Kelli Higgins.
