MCCU Announces 2026-27 CU in School Student Tellers

Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) has named Brendan Parks, John Paul Rodgers and Skyler Starring as its 2026-27 CU in School Student Tellers, continuing the credit union's commitment to financial education and youth development.

Parks and Rodgers, students at Marshall High School, and Starring, a student at Battle Creek Central High School, spent the summer working at their local MCCU branches to gain hands-on experience with credit union operations, member service and financial education. Throughout the school year, they will bring that experience back to their schools, assisting with transactions at their respective CU in School branches and helping fellow students and staff engage with personal finance.

In addition to their work at school branches, the student tellers will have opportunities to continue working at MCCU branches as their schedules allow. As part of the program, they will also participate in an independent study led by Laura Santos, MCCU's Community & Youth Engagement Manager, focusing on personal finance, financial responsibility, credit union operations, customer service and career development.

"Our Student Teller program is designed to give students more than just a job," said Santos. "They're stepping into a real-world environment where they can practice managing money, serving others, communicating professionally and making financial decisions. We're excited to see Brendan, John Paul, and Skyler take what they've learned through their training and share it with their classmates and school communities."

The CU in School branches at Battle Creek Central High School and Marshall High School opened in September and provide students and staff with opportunities to conduct transactions during designated lunch periods throughout the school year.

MCCU has partnered with Marshall Public Schools since 2001 through its CU in School program, bringing financial education directly into schools. In 2025, the credit union expanded the program to Battle Creek Central High School, extending hands-on financial education and student-run banking opportunities to another school community.
