United Financial and 98.1 KCQ Raise More Than $42K for Families through Annual Giving Tree
United Financial Credit Union reported raising a total of $42,603.74 through the 2025 Giving Tree program in partnership with 98.1 KCQ. Fifteen local families were selected after being nominated by friends and relatives familiar with their circumstances.
United Financial collected $16,133.74 through the UFirst Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports community outreach, financial education and scholarship efforts. An additional $26,470 was contributed, resulting in the total amount distributed to families before the holiday season.
The Giving Tree collection drive is an annual fundraiser hosted by 98.1 KCQ to support local families experiencing hardship during the holidays. United Financial has partnered with the initiative for several years.
The credit union reported that this year’s supported families included individuals facing challenges such as a spinal injury, cancer, the loss of a parent and the total loss of a home due to fire.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that donated to the 2025 Giving Tree,” said Savannah Gilmore, Marketing Specialist at United Financial Credit Union. “Your generosity and support for each of these local families represents the compassion and strength our community brings when we work together.”
