Members First CU, FHLBank Indianapolis Team Up to Support Habitat for Humanity Renovation Project

Members First Credit Union (M1) recently partnered with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank Indianapolis) to support a Saginaw?Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity renovation project that will soon welcome a local family into a safe, affordable home.

The collaboration was part of FHLBank Indianapolis’ Unite for Impact initiative, which matches volunteer hours and financial contributions from its member institutions to strengthen local communities. Employees from both organizations — along with community partners — spent the day completing hands?on renovation work, including painting, drywall installation, hanging light fixtures and cleanup.

In addition to volunteering, the organizations provided $6,000 in total support for the project. Through Unite for Impact, FHLBank Indianapolis contributed $3,000, which Members First matched.

“FHLBank Indianapolis is proud to partner with Members First Credit Union and Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity through the Unite for Impact campaign to augment our member financial institutions' community-based volunteer efforts,” said MaryBeth Wott, SVP, Community Investment and Strategic Planning Officer. “Increased homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income families in Saginaw is a win for us all.”

Members First Credit Union, which serves more than 67,000 Michiganders, says the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting safe housing and expanding homeownership opportunities for local families.
