Members First Credit Union Secures Funding to Support Housing Stability in Mid-Michigan
Members First Credit Union (M1) has partnered with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis to provide $18,750 in funding for Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan through the Community Multiplier – Member Match program.
By contributing $3,750, M1 unlocked a 4-to-1 match from FHLBank Indianapolis, resulting in $15,000 in grant funding to support services that improve housing stability and resident retention.
"We are honored to partner with FHLBank Indianapolis to multiply our community impact. Our combined $18,750 investment supports Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan's vital work, ensuring our vulnerable neighbors receive the emergency shelter, wraparound care, and stable foundation they need to achieve lasting independence - at home. At M1, we are deeply dedicated to encouraging a better tomorrow and putting the philosophy of ‘people helping people’ into action,” said Carrie Iafrate, CEO of Members First Credit Union.
The funding will support Rescue Ministries’ Impact Shelter Program, which provides case management, life-skills instruction and housing-placement assistance. Participants who secure permanent housing can also access Impact Designs, a program that offers move-in assistance, donated furniture, household essentials and continued case management support. According to Rescue Ministries, 90% of guests who receive Impact Designs services remain stably housed after two years.
"We are extremely grateful for the partnership with Members First Credit Union and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis for providing this grant which will allow us to provide a stable place of residency for our homeless neighbors. A place they can call ‘home’! This investment will help provide a safe place for families in need with the hope that they will never have to experience homelessness again,” said Dan Streeter, CEO of Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan.
