American 1 Donates $50K to Support Revitalization of The Cascades in Jackson County
American 1 Credit Union has contributed $50,000 to the revitalization of The Cascades, a historic landmark in Jackson County’s Sparks Foundation Park. The donation supports ongoing efforts to preserve the site and enhance community spaces.
“American 1 is proud to help preserve spaces like The Cascades, honoring our long-standing legacies in Jackson while investing in the future of our community,” said CEO Martha Fuerstenau. “As we celebrate our 75th anniversary this year, we’re proud to support this revitalization effort and help ensure this beloved landmark continues to inspire and connect generations to come.”
The Cascades opened in 1932 and features a 500-foot illuminated, manufactured waterfall with six fountains and 16 falls, flowing at 2,000 gallons per minute. It has long been a community gathering place for concerts, celebrations and educational field trips.
Jackson County Parks is leading efforts to restore and modernize the structure while preserving its historic character.
“We greatly appreciate American 1 Credit Union’s commitment to the community,” said Kyle Lewis, director of Jackson County Parks. “American 1 Credit Union’s support gets us further to our goal of ensuring that the Cascades will be around for generations to come.”
The contribution will help fund structural improvements, lighting upgrades and enhanced visitor experiences. Community members can also support the project through the Jackson Community Foundation, which manages donations on behalf of the county.
