Michigan's Financial Counseling Network Grows Through MCUF FiCEP Program

The Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) is wrapping up another successful year of its Michigan Enhanced Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP), with nearly 200 credit union professionals from across the state participating in the 2026 program.

While a few participants are still completing their certification exams, MCUF congratulates this year’s cohort on the time and commitment they’ve invested in strengthening their financial counseling skills and their ability to support members on their financial journeys.

FiCEP provides credit union professionals with the skills and knowledge to help members navigate financial challenges, build stronger financial habits and work toward their individual goals. MCUF’s enhanced Michigan program builds on the traditional self-study FiCEP curriculum with additional training, resources and opportunities to put those skills into practice.

Throughout the 2026 program, participants had access to enhanced resources and support, including:

Keep the Learning Going at the Financial Health Workshop

For newly certified counselors, experienced financial coaches and other credit union professionals focused on improving members’ financial well-being, the learning doesn’t have to end with FiCEP.

Registration is now open for the MCUF Financial Health Workshop, taking place October 8 at the Henry Center in Lansing. This one-day event brings together credit union financial counselors and coaches for practical education, peer learning and conversations focused on the challenges members are facing today.

Whether you participated in FiCEP this year or have been counseling members for years, the workshop is an opportunity to continue building your skills, exchange ideas with peers and bring new tools and approaches back to your credit union.
