The M
chigan Credit Union League (MCUL) is proud to announce that President & CEO Patty Corkery was honored last week with a 2025 Credit Union Times Luminaries Award in the League/Trade Association Executive Leadership category. The awards, held at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort in Orlando on Nov. 6, celebrated 25 credit union innovators, leaders and changemakers from across the country.
“The success of MCUL stems from the amazing team that is passionate about this movement and the success and strength of our credit unions,” said Corkery. “I am fortunate to lead such amazing people and honored to be recognized alongside so many exceptional leaders and organizations.”
Corkery has served as CEO of MCUL since 2021 and began her tenure as joint CEO of MCUL and its majority-owned CUSO, CUSG, in 2024.
CU Times recognized Corkery for her leadership in advancing both advocacy and innovation across Michigan’s credit union system. The publication specifically cited Michigan’s 26,000 messages to Congress in recent defense of the credit union tax exemption and this year’s launch of MCUL’s CU Spark Tank, a competition challenging young professionals to showcase their innovative ideas on beneficial products, services or concepts.
CU Times Editor-in-Chief Michael Ogden commended the honorees, “This year’s Luminaries represent the best of what the credit union movement stands for — impact, innovation and integrity. They are building stronger financial futures for their members and communities.”
Michigan Legacy Credit Union was also recognized at the Luminaries Awards, earning top honors in the Community Impact (Credit Union $1 Billion and below) category. The credit union was celebrated for its fraud prevention, particularly aimed at protecting its elder members.
