Four States Welcome Others to Participate in Virtual Directors Conference
The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU) – serving Alabama, Georgia and Florida – is collaborating with the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) to host a virtual training conference supporting today's modern directors and volunteers.
The Branching Out for the Future Credit Union Directors Virtual Conference, which will take place May 12 through May 13, features relevant training and expanded networking roundtables to help board members fulfill their respective fiduciary responsibilities.
Kevin Smith of TEAM Resources will discuss "Best Practices of the Modern Credit Union Board," and David Reed, an attorney and partner from Reed & Jolly, PLLC, is slated to speak on "Things that Keep Boards Up at Night."
In addition to roundtable discussions, participants will enjoy a "coffee talk" featuring Jared Ross, president of LSCU, and Patty Corkery, COO/general counsel of MCUL. Both will share thoughts on how boards can best serve credit unions during the pandemic. Event registration includes the added value of these convenient pre-recorded webinars: “Bank Secrecy Act, “Boards Behaving Badly: The Guide to Handling Unruly Directors” and “The Digital Board of Directors.”
"We're pleased to be creating an opportunity for Michigan credit union board members to network with other volunteers outside of the state," said MCUL CEO Dave Adams. "I'm looking forward to the dialogue and supporting these directors as they address complex issues in these challenging times."
Patrick LaPine, CEO of LSCU agreed, "Collaborating with MCUL is another great example of the cooperative spirit of our industry. I know this joint effort will be beneficial to all of the volunteers serving their credit unions in these states."
The event is sponsored by CU Solutions Group and LEVERAGE. Any Leagues interested in making the training available to volunteers in their state may contact LSCU at education@lscu.coop or MCUL at educate@mcul.org to discuss promoting the training.
