Paul Bunyan Chapter of Credit Unions Use MCUF Grant to Feed West Michigan
Eleven credit unions comprising the Paul Bunyan Chapter of Credit Unions have partnered with the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF)’s Community Crisis Support Fund to deliver $18,000 to Feeding America West Michigan’s hunger relief efforts in the 13 northern Michigan counties served by the institutions.
Together, the credit unions provide financial services and expert guidance to more than 166,000 members-owners, stretching from Emmet to Mason County. The chapter includes the following institutions:

- Safe Harbor CU
- Filer CU
- St. Francis X FCU
- Forest Area FCU
- TBA CU
- Frankfort Community FCU
- Traverse Catholic FCU
- Mason County School Employees CU
- Wexford Community CU
- Northwest Consumer FCU
The chapter’s institutions frequently collaborate to bolster the region’s families. Collectively, the chapter invested more than 5,500 hours of team member volunteerism in area community initiatives in 2019.
The $18,000 gift will allow Feeding America West Michigan to provide 72,000 individual meals to northern Michigan families in need through its 137 member agencies in Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Manistee, Kalkaska, Lake, Leelanau, Mason, Missaukee, Osceola, Lake, Mason and Wexford counties.
