Credit Union Collection Consortium Next Meeting Feb. 14

The Credit Union Collection Consortium meets next on Feb. 14 from 2-4 p.m. at Oakland County Credit Union, located at 1375 N. Oakland Blvd. in Waterford. Retired FBI special agent William Edwards, who has more than 37 years of experience with financial institution and healthcare fraud, will be discussing bank fraud. This is a great opportunity to learn from an expert in the field as Edwards, who handled fraud investigations for Comerica Bank for four years, discusses various forms of bank fraud and how to combat it. The meeting is open to all credit union professionals, including loss prevention and risk management. No reservations are necessary. For more information, contact Peggy Dombrowski at 248-322-9800, ext. 1300.

Call for Interest in Michigan Credit Union Leadership Diversity and Inclusion Forum

With a vision that Michigan’s communities can be strengthened by strong and diverse representation in credit union leadership, a pilot effort is underway to bring credit unions together to discuss the opportunity to enhance minority representation at board and management levels in the Michigan credit union movement. Credit union professionals interested in sharing ideas or playing a role in this effort are encouraged to contact Vibe Credit Union Vice Chairperson Stephen Westbrooks. A contact list will be developed and a meeting will be set up during the second quarter of 2018.

Tower Family Credit Union and BlueOx Credit Union to Merge

A merger between Tower Family Credit Union and BlueOx Credit Union is moving forward after a unanimous vote by members of Tower Family on Jan. 23. The merger will bring $8.5 million in assets and 1,042 members to BlueOx Credit Union. The merger is effective April 1 with a conversion to the BlueOx system scheduled to take place on June 30.

“Tower Family Credit Union chose BlueOx as a merger partner for a number of reasons, including their strong financial position and commitment to members, employees and communities,” Tower Family President/CEO Deborah Adams said. “BlueOx offers additional services and good value to our members. We see it as a very positive arrangement.”

“This merger will be our second this year, which is both exciting and challenging, but we really look forward to it,” said BlueOx Credit Union President/CEO Fran Godfrey. “It will allow us to continue our momentum and will be of mutual benefit to both Tower Family and BlueOx members.”
