MCCU Donates to Calhoun County Animal Center
On July 7, Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) representatives made a surprise donation of six dog beds, valued at $630 to the Calhoun County Animal Center.
MCCU branch manager Corrie Rozell met animal center volunteer Jody McKay at a recent Battle Creek Bombers game. In conversation, Jody expressed an urgent need for a specific brand of chew-proof dog bed at the animal center. Many of their beds had recently broken or needed to be replaced, leaving several animals to lay on the concrete floor. Corrie sprang into action and suggested a donation to the animal center with her MCCU team. Over the Fourth of July holiday, six beds were ordered and constructed and on July 10, marketing representative Becky Hewitt and financial education coordinator Andrea Tucker made the delivery.
“On behalf of the Calhoun County Animal Center, we would like to send our greatest appreciation for the donation of beds for the dogs here at the center. Hundreds of dogs come through the center each year and because of your generosity we will now have a comfortable bed while they are with us. Thank you so much for caring and love shared to the community for those in need, even the four legged ones!” said Jody McKay, volunteer representative of Calhoun County Animal Center.
Calhoun County Animal Center is a not-for-profit organization located on Union Street in Battle Creek. The center works with both Calhoun County and the city of Battle Creek to find homes for all types of dogs and cats in their facility. They are currently looking for donations of dog biscuits/treats, kitty litter, laundry detergent and monetary donations for medical needs. For more information, visit here.
