TBA Credit Union Participates in Money Smart Week

More than 500 free financial education events and workshops for consumers of all ages will be held across Michigan during Money Smart Week (MSW), April 22–29.

TBA Credit Union and Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) are partnering together on April 12 for an annual Geocaching scavenger hunt on the Northwestern Michigan College campus. For the scavenger hunt, college students travel to seven sites and answer budgeting questions on smart phones. Students who complete the entire course are entered to win a $1,000 state prize and a variety of prizes from NMC and TBACU.

“Geocaching is a fun event to encourage NMC students to learn financial tips, locations of key campus offices and provide a chance to win a scholarship from the State of Michigan or one of many prizes that NMC and TBACU are providing,” Katie Malone, Northwestern Michigan College.

TBA Credit Union has also paired up with Traverse Area District Library and Peninsula Community Library to provide two fun story hour events which are all free to attend. To view the schedule of events for the Grand Traverse region please visit moneysmartweek.org.

MSW programs are open to people of all ages, all walks of life and of all levels of income and knowledge. Events are hosted by libraries, businesses, financial institutions, schools, community organizations and government agencies across our state. Programs cover a wide variety of money-management topics, including raising money smart kids, saving for college, buying a house, using credit wisely, avoiding fraud and scams, managing student debt, and financing retirement, among others.
