  • Credit union staff who work in the financial counseling, collections and loan departments, or any other staff members who are committed to helping members gain control of their financial future, should plan now to participate in CUNA's Tax and Investment Basics webinar on Nov. 1. The session is being held from 2-3:30 p.m. and will explain the basics of taxation and how to help members understand their tax obligations and responsibilities, along with identifying how to help members develop a short-, medium- and long-term savings and investment strategies. Registration is $219 for CUNA affiliated members.
  • CUNA will deliver an Economic Update webinar on Nov. 10 beginning at noon. The one-hour session will explore the national and international economic trends that will impact credit unions and is being hosted by CUNA Senior Economist Perc Pineda. Learn about overarching issues and significant recent developments in the economy, gain invaluable knowledge that will enhance fiscal decision making for the rest of 2016 and beyond. CUNA affiliated credit unions may register for $219.
  • The Supervisory Committee Academy (TM) will be discussing Maximizing Supervisory Committee Communications: From the Board to the Examiners, in its next webinar, taking place Nov. 16 from 2-3:30 p.m. In order to fulfill the critical responsibilities of the supervisory committee, it is essential that effective communication be established and maintained with the board of directors. The session will explain why it is never enough for the committee to just identify potential issues within the credit union, but rather why it is incumbent upon them to communicate those issues with the board of directors and follow up on their resolution. Well known industry consultant David Reed will facilitate the session, which is priced at $249.
