Morph Into a Mentor: You Know You Want To!

"Transformational Leadership: Morphing Into a Mentor" is one of three topics-of-focus at the upcoming MCUL & Affiliates Intentional CU Leadership workshop. The training takes place at the Downtown Market Grand Rapids on Sept. 28, with an optional pre-event activity the evening of Sept. 27.

Mark Arnold, an acclaimed speaker and expert in branding, training and strategic marketing, is one of three presenters attendees may choose to work with at the event. Arnold will explore the differences between managers and mentors and provide staff development techniques to cultivate staff's strengths and create a mentoring culture.

Each registrant will complete an individual development plan as their personal tool for professional improvement. Each of the three speakers will make a brief 18-minute presentation in the morning, and then attendees decide who they want to follow into action for the rest of the day.

"Five Habits of the Most Productive Leaders" will be the topic focused on by Tim Harrington, a well-known industry consultant and author. "Change Agent Leadership" is the third topic attendees may choose to work with consultant Kevin Smith.

Intentional CU Leadership offers a new format and training experience to help credit unions further the professional development of their staffs, regardless of where employees are in their careers. Emerging leaders are welcome to register, and more than half of the credit unions participating are sending multiple attendees.

Hotel rooms are being held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel until Sept. 6, but attendees are encouraged to select accommodations of their choosing, from a variety of area hotels. The world-renowned ArtPrize event takes place in Grand Rapids during these dates, so participants should secure hotel rooms soon.
