- The Supervisory Committee Academy (TM) is offering a free webinar on Supervisory Committee Basic Duties and Responsibilities. The supervisory committee is the watchdog of the credit union, and fills a critical role in making sure the organization is operating in a safe and sound manner, putting proper controls in place and not taking undue risk. The board of directors may get all of the attention, but a strong supervisory committee is essential to having good governance. This session is ideal for rookie committee members needing to hit the ground running or for veterans needing a refresher.
- The CUNA SAFE Comprehensive MLO Course is coming to Michigan to provide compliance training for the rules issued by the CFPB pursuant to Dodd-Frank amended Regulation Z requiring that a loan originator must receive periodic training. To help Michigan credit unions obtain a safe harbor, CUNA will offer a eight-hour SAFE Comprehensive Mortgage Loan Originator course that is approved by the National Mortgage Licensing Association. The session will take place Oct. 18 in Lathrup Village and covers federal and state law requirements that relate to the individual loan originator's origination activities. Registration is $299 for affiliated CUNA members and $598 for non-members.
- CUNA will offer a webinar on Dealing with Conflict and Difficult People from 3:00-4:15 p.m. (ET) on July 21. The ability to deal with conflict is the most visible indicator of effective and mature leadership. A leader who is able to facilitate healthy “constructive” discontent, manage difficult situations without alienating and hold people accountable without punishing is a leader who builds loyalty and employee engagement at high levels. The webinar will offer a practical and reliable system to create harmony and healthy communication at home and at work. Registration is $219 for affiliated CUNA members.
