Saginaw Medical Federal Credit Union Wins State and National Community Outreach Awards
Saginaw Medical Federal Credit Union was recently presented two awards recognizing its 2015 Cases for Kids campaign, a program which collects new and gently used suitcases to be given to children currently in the Saginaw and Bay County court system due to abuse and neglect.
The Michigan Credit Union League awarded SMFCU with its state-level first place Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award. This award recognizes a credit union for its outreach efforts to strengthen, support and improve the lives of its local community through charitable projects. The League stated, “Cases for Kids really embodied the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and demonstrated Saginaw Medical’s investment in helping the community.”
SMFCU also received the national-level 2016 Exceptional Marketing Ideas (EMI) Community Outreach Award from Card Services for Credit Unions (CSCU). This award is given to a credit union for its dedication to the community and its members through community involvement. CSCU is the nation's largest electronic-payments association exclusively serving credit unions.
“We couldn’t have received these awards without the wonderful support of our staff, credit union and community members who donated to this project," said Laura Crase, SMFCU CEO. "Our hope is that this will make the lives of children in foster care just a little easier.”
