Lawmakers, Regulators and a Legendary Journalist Highlight Day Three of CUNA's GAC
The Michigan Credit Union League’s busy schedule continued during the third day at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington.
Members of the MCUL delegation met with U.S. Sens Gary Peters (D-MI) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) to discuss a slew of important credit union issues like member business lending and regulatory relief. A group of senior MCUL representatives also met with officials from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to discuss overdraft protection regulation and financial literacy initiatives CUs provide in their communities.
NCUA Board Member J. Mark McWatters also addressed the GAC delegation, along with a keynote address from award-winning journalist Ted Koppel, who emphasized the important role cybersecurity plays in today’s credit union landscape. The day concluded with a reception honoring MCUL’s Lawmaker of the Year, U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI).Go to main navigation
