2021 AC&E Preview: Global Women’s Leadership Network Panel
The Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) panel session returns to this year’s AC&E for a discussion called, “The Reconnect Effect.” The conversation will revolve around re-emerging from the pandemic and how it has impacted their professional and personal life.
The panel discussion is held Aug. 23, in Tower B, from 8:00-8:45 a.m. and is open to all attendees.
GWLN, a DEI initiative established by the World Council of Credit Unions in 2009, aims to provide women with the opportunity and resources to make a measurable difference in the lives of each other, credit union members and those in their communities.
The 2019 AC&E also featured a GWLN panel. That year’s panel gave attendees advice about the changing landscape of the workforce and how they approach change on a daily basis — all against the backdrop of their own professional experience.
The group specifically talked about how to recruit talent, how to train employees to positively influence the credit union, recruiting for diversity and much more. The discussion also made room for a larger discussion with the attendees present.
This year’s panel will feature MCUL CEO Patty Corkery, Frankenmuth Credit Union CEO Vickie Schmitzer and Xtend CEO Liz Winninger.
Talking with MCUL, Schmitzer said attendees can expect this year’s panel to deliver three things: ideas, connections and a little more knowledge about who and what GWLN is.
“GWLN sessions are created to inspire leaders at all points in their careers to leave with one of the most powerful gifts we can give: an idea,” continued Schmitzer. “Equally important is the connections we foster during these sessions; it is, after all, the Global Women’s Leadership Network. You will undoubtedly meet someone new, and make a connection.”
Frankenmuth Credit Union’s CEO also said she's looking forward to getting a little personal, and checking in on fellow GWLN members (and non-members who want to see what it’s all about).
