Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union Boosts Community with $10K Relief Fund

Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union (WWFCU) recently announced that it has helped four Wayne County households with its $10,000 WWFCU Relief Fund. Each household in need due to the coronavirus pandemic received $2,500 from the fund.

WWFCU was looking for ways to help its community during these difficult times and decided the Relief Fund was the best way to make lives easier for four households. From mid-April to May 15, WWFCU collected nominations of families and individuals experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19. The credit union received more than 150 nominations.

The recipients are:

  •  Michele Cruz
  •  Eva Salcedo
  •  Philip and Krista Stapleton
  •  Nikki Thomas

“First, we’d like to thank everyone who sent in a WWFCU Relief Fund nomination. There are so many people in need in our community, narrowing it down to just four wasn’t easy,” said WWFCU CEO Thelma Dasho. “The four families chosen had exceptional circumstances and we’re happy we can do something to make their lives easier. We try to live the “People helping People” credit union philosophy everyday here at WWFCU.”
