Marshall Community Credit Union Awards $8,000 in Scholarships
Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) recently awarded scholarships of $1,000 each to eight college-bound credit union members. MCCU’s scholarships are awarded to students in recognition of their academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service and leadership. Recipients of the scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year are:
- Cory Berkimer – Bellevue High School
- Daniel Delmotte – Marshall High School
- Ella Hilton – Marshall High School
- Shea Morgan – Marshall High School
- Paul Radulescu – Marshall High School
- Lucas Settineri – Marshall High School
- Katherine Stillson – Marshall High School
- Tyler Tucker – Marshall High School
“On behalf of the scholarship committee, congratulations to the recipients of this year’s scholarship! It is so important to acknowledge students not only for their academic merits, but also for their community involvement and leadership skills. I am proud to be a part of an organization that continuously supports the educational goals of students within our communities,” said Andrea Tucker, MCCU's financial education coordinator and scholarship committee member.
Recipients and their families were recognized during the credit union’s Annual Meeting that was held virtually, on April 24.
“Teaching people about money and helping them better manage it is at the heart of what we do as a credit union. Through our CU In School program, we offer student run credit union branches at ten area schools, along with financial classroom presentations, credit union tours, Dollar’s for A’s program, teacher assistance and most recently, scholarships for graduating seniors,” said CEO Heather Luciani. “Awarding scholarships to deserving young men and women, who are the future leaders of our communities, is an extension of our core mission and one of the wisest investments we can make,” she continued.
2020 marked the seventh year that MCCU offered the scholarships, and plans are already underway to offer scholarships for graduating 2021 seniors.
