Expanded MCUF Support for Financial Counseling Training Provides Remote Access, Scholarships and Flexible Timeline
In response to increased member and credit union needs, the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) is opening the enhanced financial counseling training program to credit union employees immediately and expanding financial support for the curriculum cost.
This will allow more credit union employees to quickly become equipped to guide members through financial difficulties. Additionally, it will provide a remote professional development opportunity for them.
The Financial Counseling Certification Program is designed for all credit union staff, including those in member service, lending, collections and community education. New enhancements to the CUNA self-study curriculum are available to Michigan participants this year. The new online MCUF student portal makes remote access to this course easier and will provide a deeper training experience with webinars to supplement each of the eight CUNA course modules, test preparation videos and financial counseling documents and resources.
Participants may choose to begin this course immediately by utilizing the PDF version of the CUNA curriculum along with the MCUF student portal. An October live testing and training session is planned but not required for certification.
MCUF funding provides the training enhancements for all participants. In addition, MCUF scholarships are being expanded for the curriculum cost so that all interested participants may access this training quickly without regard to budget limitations.
