Alliance Catholic Partners with Banzai to Offer Free Online Financial Literacy Resources to Catholic Schools

Alliance Catholic Credit Union (ACCU), in collaboration with Banzai, an award winning financial literacy program, provides free resources to local K-12 Catholic schools looking to incorporate financial literacy into their curriculum.

In the wake of schools going online due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Banzai financial education solution from ACCU is ideal, because it can be taught remotely. Banzai understands that teachers are actively seeking out ways to engage their students from home and are answering the call.

“We’re working hard on more solutions to ensure teachers have as many curriculum tools at their remote fingertips as possible,” said Banzai Co-founder and CTO Kendall Buchanan.

ACCU is committed to working with Catholic teachers, counselors and administrators to provide students with engaging ways to learn about spending, saving and budgeting money. The credit union relayed confidence in the Banzai program, because they have seen it work. Over the past three years, more than 100 teachers at 55 schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit have participated in the ACCU-sponsored curriculum.

The Banzai programs are geared towards students aged eight and up and come with a variety of materials that allow teachers to not only teach financial tips remotely, but to also grade their students and track their progress during the program.

With three levels of interactive gaming courses, students find themselves faced with dilemmas and puzzles tailored to their age and situation. Each course covers topics like income, budgeting, saving, borrowing and making tradeoffs and is completed with online workbooks.

“We are doing everything we can to help our teachers and students when they find themselves working and learning from home. We think this program is ideally suited for the challenges teachers are currently facing,” said Keith Burke, VP of marketing at Alliance Catholic Credit Union.
