Wife of Former MCUL Director Passes Away

Magdaline Mary Carnarvon, wife of former MCUL Assistant Managing Director Harry A. Carnarvon (deceased in 1989), died peacefully with family present on March 5, 2020. She was 96 years old.

Magdaline and Harry were married June 14, 1947 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Detroit. The newlywed couple lived in Detroit until they moved to Allen Park in 1948 and became parishioners of St. Frances Cabrini. They remained in Allen Park, where they became staples of the community, for the rest of their lives, raising 11 children.

Mary is survived by her children Janet Hendrie, Harry (Judy), Laurie Collins (Rick), Christine DeWitt (Denny), Mary Carnarvon LaHousse (Robert), Marc (Jane), William (Ruth), Anne Zagunis (Jim), Anthony (Sue) and Joseph, Paul (Sherrie). Mary is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Joseph Hendrie and great-great-granddaughter Addison Carter.

A memorial mass was held on March 10 at St. Frances Cabrini Church.
