Democratic Debates Head to Detroit

This week, Detroit’s Fox Theatre was host to two Democratic presidential debates. Leaders from Michigan’s credit union community were able to attend the debate, including ELGA Credit Union President/CEO Karen Church, Public Service Credit Union President/CEO Dean Trudeau and MCUL EVP/COO Patty Corkery.

“The Democratic Debate was a great experience,” said Church. “The VIP reception to start us off was amazing. Held at the Detroit Athletic Club with a delicious spread of food including delectable desserts. We met new friends and they are members of MI Schools & Government CU.”

“The Fox Theatre is always a treat,” she continued. “The stage was stunning and the moderators on key. The Presidential Candidates opened with a minute speech on why they should be our next president. The debate was interesting and the difference of plans and opinions was clear. Twenty candidates is way too many. I’ll be glad when the field is smaller.”

Church was also able to say hello to Congressman Dan Kildee.

“The debate was a great opportunity to connect with our lawmakers and watch democracy in action,” said MCUL EVP/COO Patty Corkery, who attended the second night of debates. “It was also exciting that Detroit was chosen for this event and it was really cool to put our great city in the spotlight.”
