MSUFCU Donates $25,000 to Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing
Building with Lego® bricks, spending the night in a museum, and a day exploring with chemistry mixtures are just a few of the activities MSU Federal Credit Union’s (MSUFCU) $25,000 donation will help support this year at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing.
Founded in 1972, Impression 5 Science Center was established as an open and free environment for children and families to learn together through hands-on experiences. Known today as a dynamic, interactive space for families to play, create, and challenge their understanding of science together, the name “Impression 5” refers to its purpose: use all five senses to explore the world and make meaningful connections to science.
“During the three years we have partnered with Impression 5, we have seen this organization offer a multitude of creative activities that promote a love of science,” said Whitney Anderson Harrell, MSUFCU’s chief community development officer. “We are proud to support this outstanding organization, both financially and through employee volunteerism.”
MSUFCU’s 2019 $25,000 donation supports several events, including:
- Physics & Astronomy Day
- LEGOPalooza
- MSU Science Festival: Night at the Museum
- Chemistry Day
- PhUn Day – special activities exploring physiology with MSU Department of Physiology student groups
Funds contributed by the credit union also provide “Museum for All” scholarships for the Science Center, which cover admission costs for more than 150 people. In addition, the donation supports the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams exhibit at MSU, SMASH, which will open in July 2019.
