Catholic Federal Plans New Name and State Charter Conversion
In May 2019, Catholic Federal Credit Union will reveal a new name and brand that celebrates and reflects the credit union’s passionate spirit and dedication to serving members, as well as being welcoming to everyone in the community. Although the new name and brand will no longer have a religious affiliation or meaning, it will be inclusive and reflect the entire membership. The credit union will make the switch to the new name, starting June 3.
Catholic Federal’s membership has been impacted by the decreasing number of Catholics in the area as well as exclusivity challenges with the word Catholic. The general public believes they must be Catholic to be a member of the credit union. The new name and brand will put the credit union in the best position possible for long-term growth.
Catholic Federal’s membership voted in favor of converting to a state charter in February 2019, allowing the credit union to expand its field of membership to persons in 19 counties in Michigan. This provides greater opportunity for growth and strengthens the ability to serve everyone in the community.
