Credit Union Collection Consortium
The Credit Union Collection Consortium meets next on Wednesday February 13, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at Michigan Legacy Credit Union located at 144 E. Pike Street in Pontiac. The speakers will be Super Lawyer Chuck Holzman and bankruptcy expert Tami White, both from Holzman Law, PLLC. Chuck and Tami will discuss the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and providing an update on trends in bankruptcy. No reservations are necessary and this is a free event. All interested parties are welcome. Please use the outside entrance ramp to the downstairs meeting room.
FUEL MI Holds First Meeting
An introductory meeting of the new FUEL ((Fueling, Uplifting, Educating Leaders) MI Young Professionals networking group was held on January 29 at Vibe Credit Union. This group is being formed with support from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) to encourage lifelong involvement with credit unions.
FUEL MI aims to expand, support and provide opportunities for networking, collaboration, leadership development and cooperative community outreach for emerging credit union professionals.
The FUEL MI Young Professionals Networking Group is searching for driven and dedicated young professionals who are passionate about sustaining the credit union movement to join the new, statewide program. Group members will meet quarterly and be responsible for determining and implementing methods for participants to connect, interact and learn about the credit union industry and movement, as well as actively participate in community outreach initiatives throughout Michigan.

It includes six one-on-one executive coaching sessions and the creation and execution of an Individual Development Plan, as well as three in-person meetups. Forest Area Federal Credit Union Opens Fifth Branch
Forest Area Federal Credit Union (FAFCU) opened the doors of its fifth location on Mon., Jan. 21 in Lake City. A grand opening celebration is set to take place at the new Lake City branch on Thursday, March 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Staff, friends and family will gather for a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Lake City Chamber of Commerce. The public and local businesses are encouraged to attend. Attendees can enjoy food, drinks, prizes and giveaways.
“We can’t wait to bring the community together and celebrate a milestone for Forest Area FCU at our grand opening. We hope to be accompanied by warm weather this spring,“ said Alex Lutke, CFO.
The new state-of-the-art branch located at 101 N. Main St. Lake City, features a full-service drive-thru and ATM and four teller booths.
