Celebrate International Credit Union Day on Oct. 18
This week, communities across the globe are celebrating the collective impact of the world’s credit unions. 2018 marks International Credit Union (ICU) Day’s platinum anniversary, reflecting on the past 70 years of lives and communities that have been improved by the credit union movement.
For nearly two centuries, financial cooperatives like credit unions have encouraged people of all walks of life to come together for the betterment of their communities — to truly embody the principle of “People Helping People.”
On Oct. 18, this year’s ICU Day provides the opportunity to recognize credit unions’ rich history of collaboration and celebrate the “platinum lining” they offer to their members every day. Now at 5.3 million members strong, Michigan credit unions are providing nearly $400 million in annual direct financial benefits to their members.
To celebrate ICU Day, from Oct. 12–18, GSTV will be running commercials nationwide at 988 stations that will reach 1.9 million people in Michigan alone. Michigan Business Connection is hosting their annual CU Lunch Local on Oct. 16 to promote credit unions and support local businesses with one fun, free event. Credit unions across Michigan and around the world will take part in other festivities.
