MLO Training Returns to Michigan in 2019

Mortgage Loan Originator training will return to Michigan in 2019. Watch for more details about online registration opening for the event, which will be held March 12 from 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at LAFCU in Lansing. MCUL & Affiliates is hosting the training, which features speaker Michael Christians.

Registration is $299 per person and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Hotel rooms are being held at the Marriott Springhill Suites in Lansing for $130 a night, plus applicable taxes. Rooms may be secured by calling (517) 627-0002; online registration for the event will open soon.

Westwood Elementary Receives TBACU Classroom Grant

On Sept. 5, TBA Credit Union presented $1,000 to Kathryn McNitt, a teacher at Westwoods Elementary. McNitt plans to use the funds to create a new learning library for the second-grade classes. This learning library will accommodate students at all reading levels and will give students a better learning experience that meets their needs. The school will also organize leveled book clubs run by teachers, parent volunteers and even students.

TBA Credit Union is proud to offer these opportunities to educators in the area, who otherwise may not find funding. TBACU allocates $7,000 during the calendar year for classroom grants, and educators can apply for grants up to $1,000.

Marshall Community Credit Union to Hold Annual Member Appreciation Day Event    

On Sept. 28, Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) will celebrate its members and community with its annual Member Appreciation Day event. From 12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m, credit union members and community members are encouraged to stop by for a free lunch from Grand River Brewery, take advantage of free giveaway items, enter a raffle to win a pair of Michigan Adirondack Chairs and purchase tickets for a chance to win $20,000.   

“Member Appreciation Day is a day where we can say thank you to our members as well as the communities we are fortunate enough to be a part of,” said Andrea Tucker, MCCU’s financial education coordinator. “We encourage our members to have lunch with us, as well as ask our staff to ‘eat in’ that day so that we can mingle, talk and get to know each other better.”

Register Now for CUNA Webinar on Budget Forecasting

CUNA's 2018 Forecasting and Budgeting Approaches webinar will be available on Oct. 4 from 3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. (ET). The session will explain the importance of applying financial management foundations to the budget process, why a top down approach to budgeting can be a best practice and will help participants identify and understand what the characteristics of an effective budget are. Registrants will learn how to create an appropriate budget forecasts and analysis tools to monitor actual performance and identify budget variances. Registration is $219 for CUNA-affiliated credit unions.
