Cannabis Banking Webinar: Gatekeepers and the Department of Justice
On July 24, Michigan credit unions will be able to access a webinar from 10:00a.m.–11:00 a.m. (ET) on Cannabis Banking: Gatekeepers and the Department of Justice.
Often financial institutions considering banking the state-legal cannabis industry do not know how to meet AML obligations beyond the status quo and regulatory approval. This session examines cannabis banking from a federal law enforcement perspective and will provide some insightful best practices to keep from running afoul with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and law enforcement community.
The webinar is ideal for board members, directors, senior managers, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) officers and legal counsel, and will help attendees determine a reasonable level of AML compliance when banking with high-risk, cash intensive clients such as marijuana businesses.
The session will provide a clearer understanding of DOJ marijuana enforcement priorities post "Cole" and their BSA/AML obligations. BSA officers will be introduced to basic techniques on how to implement effective components within their existing compliance units.
Registration is $99. The session will be facilitated by West Coast AML Services, a national consultant to marijuana-related AML compliance for the financial sector.Go to main navigation
