Christian Financial CU to Build New Headquarters in Sterling Heights

The northeast corner of 15 Mile and Van Dyke in Sterling Heights may look a little busier these days, it’s because Christian Financial Credit Union is making room for a new 40,000 square-foot headquarters, to be unveiled in spring 2019. The new building will house the credit union’s back office staff and Member Solutions Center.

“Simply put, we are outgrowing our current facilities,” said Patricia Campbell, president and CEO of Christian Financial. “It’s a good problem to have, but it presents some challenges. This new building will allow us the space to be able to collaborate, innovate and grow, and ultimately serve our members better.”

The credit union broke ground on the 8 acre site in March 2018, and the project is estimated to be completed around May 2019. The new state-of-the-art facility will feature several different collaborative spaces that will be distinct from one another, giving staff the opportunity to change their environments throughout the day and equip them for tasks without being tied down to a physical location.

“To watch the growth of the credit union over the years, it’s remarkable,” said Michael Domzalski, chairman of the board. “It’s grown from a small branch in a church to a landmark of our community. It’s a testament to the trust we and our members have in the institution, and a sign that Christian Financial is committed to serving the needs of our members and our region over the long term.”

“Today, our talent team is spread out among several different offices, and those that are located at our main office are sharing close quarters. We want to bring everyone back home under one roof,” said Campbell. “The new environment will be conducive to collaboration so that our staff can learn from each other and be inspired by the work their teammates are doing.”

The credit union’s 10 branch locations, including their current headquarters location, will remain open and continue to serve members in those areas. The new facility will be an administrative headquarters on an 8.5 acre parcel with space to add a member-facing branch on the property in the future.
