LAFCU Selects Julianne Ackerson to manage Owosso and Corunna Branches

LAFCU has named Julianne Ackerson of Owosso as assistant vice president of branch operations for its Owosso and Corunna branches.

“Julianne’s extensive financial services and branch management experience will help LAFCU continue to provide quality customer service as well as an engaging work environment that attracts and retains excellent employees,” said Angie Ruzinsky, LAFCU’s regional vice president.

Ackerson comes to LAFCU from Security Credit Union, where she was assistant vice president and office manager of the Owosso branch for nearly five years. She has also been a manager with the Owosso branches of Chemical Bank and Citizens Bank. Before entering the banking industry, Ackerson worked for 11 years with SVRC Industries Inc. as employment coordinator.

“My focus will be on helping LAFCU members, our community and employees to thrive and flourish,” Ackerson said. “I especially look forward to helping facilitate and expand LAFCU’s community involvement.”

Ackerman serves as vice chair of the board of directors for the Shiawassee County Humane Society, past president and current member of the Chamber Ambassadors of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Patient & Family Advisory Council for Memorial Healthcare, Owosso. She is also a 2013 graduate of Leadership Shiawassee, a Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce program.

MCDC Welcomes Duane Hummel as Underwriter

The Michigan Certified Development Corporation (MCDC) is pleased to announce the addition of Duane Hummel as underwriter in their East Lansing corporate headquarters. Hummel will be responsible for financial analysis of loan applicants, eligibility determination, loan packaging and working with SBA to get loans approved. He comes to the MCDC after over 35 years with JPMorgan Chase Bank, where he served most recently as a business banking relationship manager. Hummel received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Michigan (Flint) and his Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

"Duane's background and experience make him an ideal fit for MCDC," said Mark Williams, president of MCDC. "His addition is a tremendous gain to our staff and for Michigan businesses."

Dort Federal Credit Union Breaks Ground on New Clio Branch

On Jan. 31, Dort Federal Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony for its newest branch location in Clio. Dort Federal’s board members, executive team and representatives from Vienna Township were in attendance.

“We are extremely happy that Dort Federal Credit Union has the opportunity to serve our current and future members in the Clio and the northern Genesee County area,” said Vicki Hawkins, CEO of Dort Federal. “While we may be building a facility, more importantly we are building lasting relationships in the community. We take a great amount of pride in what we do in the community and we are very excited to be here.”

This facility will bring a new member experience with state-of-the-art technology and was the second groundbreaking ceremony held recently by Dort Federal. On Dec. 19, 2017, the credit union also announced they will begin construction of a branch located in Swartz Creek. Construction is to begin soon at both locations and is projected to be completed in the summer of 2018.
