- The Deceased Accountholder and Federal Government Payments is the topic of a CUNA webinar on Feb. 13 from 11:00 a.m. to noon (ET). The session will cover government benefit payments, reclamation rules for both government and corporate entities and how to handle reclamations and DNEs to limit liability. Constructive knowledge of death versus actual knowledge of death will be shared, along with how to handle ACH payments once a credit union has knowledge of a member’s death. Registration is $219 for CUNA-affiliated credit unions. The webinar is part of CUNA's ACH webinar series, which starts Jan. 23. The complete series is available to members for $995.
- On Jan. 23, CUNA will begin an IRA webinar series that will include training on Handling IRA Legal Issues on Feb. 14 from 11:00 a.m. to noon (ET). Although credit union personnel do not give tax advice to members, IRA administrators still may find themselves fielding legal questions. The webinar covers some of the more common legal issues that may arise with IRAs such as powers of attorney, guardianships, creditors, beneficiary issues and divorce. The webinar is priced at $219 for CUNA members and the series of webinars is available for $995.
