- Last chance to register for CUNA MLO training is this week, as the NMLS-approved eight-hour SAFE Comprehensive course comes to Lansing on Oct. 5. Once again MCUL is working in conjunction with CUNA to deliver Mortgage Loan Originator training. This year the session will be held at LAFCU and provides Michigan credit unions access to important information without having to travel out of state. The course will cover "Federal Law and Regulations," "Ethics, Consumer Protection and Fair Lending," "Lending Standards for the Non-Traditional Mortgage Market" and "Undefined Instruction on Mortgage Origination." Registration for CUNA affiliated credit unions is $239 per person; non-members are $478.
- What is there to know about the Telephone Consumer Protection (TCPA) that relates to credit unions? Let CUNA tell you during two available webinars. Listen in to the free session, TCPA: CUNA’s Petition to the FCC and What You Can Do webinar on Oct. 11 from 3-4 p.m. (ET). CUNA also has a webinar recording available on Surviving in the Compliance Jungle of Collections, priced at $219 for CUNA member credit unions. Featuring Harry Strausser, the session explains why collecting in 2017 is a very different world than it has been in the past. With the advent of the CFPB and other state and federal regulations such as TCPA, the collection industry has become much like a thick jungle of confusing directives and disturbing case law.
