Honor CU Announces Three Internal VP Promotions

Honor Credit Union is excited to announce three internal promotions! Deb Slavens has been named Vice President of Innovation Technology, Chris Jacobs has been named Vice President of Retail Delivery, and Sara Buursma has been named Vice President of Virtual Engagement.

Slavens takes over her new role after previously serving as Business Intelligence Manager and Director of Information Technology at Honor. She will be responsible for future technological innovations, delivery of information through analytical insight, and the development and implementation of Honor’s IT strategic plan. Originally from Grand Rapids, Slavens lives in Bridgman with her husband Caleb and their two sons Owen, 11, and Adam, 10. She can be found on the sidelines or in the stands at many of her sons’ sporting events.

In his new role, Jacobs will be working with the branch teams to give Honor members a great experience as well as identifying new ways to help our members save both money and time. He previously served as Director of Retail Branches. Jacobs, who has been with Honor for five years, received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Spring Arbor University, where he also received his Master’s in Business Administration.

Buursma steps into her new role after serving as Honor’s Director of Member Solutions Center. As VP of Virtual Engagement, she will be responsible for driving and overseeing the virtual growth strategy for Honor, as well as the strategic direction of the Member Solutions Center. Buursma resides in her hometown of Berrien Springs with her husband and two daughters.
