MCUL Announces 2016 State and Federal PAC Fundraising Award Winners

MCUL & Affiliates has revealed the credit unions that received political action committee fundraising honors for their efforts in 2016. The awards will be presented at MCUL’s upcoming state Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) on April 27.

The Chairman's Award is given to credit unions in three asset categories that raised the highest percentage of their PAC fundraising goal. Separate awards are given for state and federal PAC fundraising.

Chairman's Award winners for the state PAC were Four Flags Area CU (less than $20 million category) with 5,152 percent of its goal; Muskegon Co-Op FCU ($20-100 million category) with 1,429 percent of its goal; Parkside CU (more than $100-250 million category) with 680 percent of its goal; and Frankenmuth CU (more than $250 million category) with 697 percent of its goal.

Chairman's Award winners for the Federal PAC were Four Flags Area CU (less than $20 million category) with 680 percent of its goal; Great Lakes First FCU ($20-100 million category) with 907 percent of its goal; United Financial CU (more than $100-250 million category) with 835 percent of its goal; and Members First CU (more than $250 million category) with 836 percent of its goal.

The Trustee's Award goes to the credit union chapter that raised the highest percentage of their PAC fundraising goal, again with separate awards for state and federal PAC fundraising. The Blue Ox Chapter took both awards, raising 292 percent of their State PAC goal with $11,158.20 and 286 percent of their federal PAC goal with $21,862.20.

The President's Award is given to the credit union that raised the most money overall, with a separate award for the state and federal PACs. Frankenmuth CU took the award for state PAC fundraising with $8,494, which is 697 percent of its goal, and Genisys CU earned the federal PAC version of the award with $31,435, or 247 percent of their goal.

The Greatest Percentage Increase from Prior Year award is given to credit unions that raised at least 25 percent more than their prior year goal, and has the greatest percentage increase for state or federal PAC fundraising. Four Flags Area CU took the award for state PAC fundraising with a 3,925 percent increase over the prior year, and Members First CU earned the federal PAC award with a 588.29 percent increase.

The Gold Star Award is presented to credit unions that achieve 100 percent participation in the Lapel Pin Program, as well as reaching 100 percent of the state PAC goals – in many cases, these two successes will be synonymous. The following credit unions earned this award: Alpena Alcona Area CU and Genisys CU.
