- On March 15, the Supervisory Committee Academy (TM) will host a webinar on Effectively Managing Conflicts of Interest. Having a conflict of interest does not make a volunteer a bad person or imply they are trying to do something wrong. It simply means they have a relationship that places them at risk of putting their own interest ahead of the credit union’s. Perhaps no single issue has caused more emotionally charged moments in a board room than conflicts of interest; yet they are relatively simple to recognize and even easier to deal with. Unfortunately, if they are ignored they can lead to hurt feelings, distrust and even increased risk of liability. This session breaks down the issue of conflicts of interest and gives the tools and techniques needed in order to avoid this potential governance landmine. The session takes place from 2-3 p.m. (ET) and is available for $249.
- CUNA will host a webinar on March 21 on How to Evaluate Business Plans for Member Business Loans. Taking place from noon-1:30 p.m. (ET), the purpose of the webinar is to identify the key components in business plans and highlight the importance of conducting due diligence on investment and loan proposals. At the end of this session, participants will be able to know the right questions to ask of applicants and identify the key factors that need to be addressed in any due diligence process that involves the evaluation of business plans. Registration is $219 for CUNA affiliated credit unions.
