  • CUNA will host a webinar on Personal Income Tax Returns and Personal Financial Statements for Business Credit Analysis on March 14 from noon-1:30 p.m. (ET). The ability to understand and analyze the information contained in personal income tax returns and personal financial statements is an important aspect of qualifying MBL loan members. The webinar will assist lenders in understanding the information contained in these tools in order to determine the ability of members to service debt. Attendees will work with federal tax return forms and schedules to help identify the borrowing capability of members. Registration is $219 for CUNA affiliated credit unions.

  • On March 15 the Supervisory Committee Academy (TM) will feature a webinar on Effectively Managing Conflicts of Interest: Supervisory Committee Edition. Priced at $249, the session will be held from 2-3 p.m. (ET) and explore how having a conflict of interest does not make a volunteer a bad person or imply they are trying to do something wrong. It simply means they have a relationship that places them at risk of putting their own interest ahead of the credit union’s. Perhaps no single issue has caused more emotionally charged moments in a board room than conflicts of interest; yet they are relatively simple to recognize and even easier to deal with. The session is being facilitated by credit union attorney David Reed who will break down the issue of conflicts of interest and provide tools and techniques in order to avoid this potential governance landmine.
