Congressman Bishop Appointed to Serve on House Ways and Means Committee

Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) was selected today by the House Republican Steering Committee to serve on the Committee on Ways and Means in the 115th Congress, filling the open seat left by newly-confirmed Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

Michigan will now have two members on this prominent tax-writing committee, which has jurisdiction over issues including health care, trade, Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security and welfare. Rep. Sander Levin (D-09) continues to serve on the panel. MCUL President & CEO Dave Adams shared the following on Rep. Bishop’s appointment: “MCUL congratulates Congressman Bishop on his appointment to the House Ways and Means Committee. As a former MCUL lawmaker of the year, Rep. Bishop has proven to be a strong supporter of credit unions and their members. We look forward to working with him and Rep. Levin as tax reform proposals takes shape in the new Congress.”
