Saginaw Medical Federal Credit Union Hosts 6th Annual "Send Santa to the Troops" Event
Saginaw Medical Federal Credit Union (SMFCU) is pleased to host its 6th Annual “Send Santa to the Troops” event on Nov. 4, from 7a.m.–6p.m., at its 1430 N. Michigan Avenue location.
SMFCU has once again partnered with the Yellow Ribbon Guard, a group dedicated to making a difference in the lives of local men and women who serve in the military. “We greatly appreciate the continued efforts and support of SMFCU in helping make Send Santa to the Troops a success,” said Melissa Alex, co-founder of the Yellow Ribbon Guard. “By bringing a little piece of home to our military personnel while they are deployed for the holiday season reminds them they are not forgotten and we appreciate their service to our country.”
Items collected at the credit union’s event will be packaged and shipped to local troops for the holiday season. Items can include snack foods, games, cards, personal hygiene items, as well as greeting cards.
In addition, the credit union will be collecting cash donations to help offset the cost of postage, which averages $12,000 a year. The Yellow Ribbon Guard also provides mailings for deployed soldiers all year long as well as reaching out to children of fallen soldiers, veterans, wounded soldiers and military families.
For a complete list of accepted and non-acceptable donation items, please visit here or call Nancy Jackson at (989) 791-7070 ext. 3303.
