DIFS Offering Free Financial Resources in October
Michigan residents are encouraged to take advantage of free, non-commercial financial education programs throughout the month of October. Spearheaded by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS), the Securing Mi Financial Future program is a series of 7 events taking place across the state, supplemented by online resources including a newly-developed video series and toolkits geared toward any age group. The program is completely free. There is no fee to attend; the information provided is free, and the program is completely free from sales pitches.
Also back by popular demand are the free Financial “QuickChecks.” The Financial “QuickChecks” will help raise awareness on 20 key, and often overlooked, financial vitals. They will alert you to potential risks, gaps and shortfalls that could have negative consequences for you and/or your family. Finally, they will provide an action plan on what to do, all while being completely free of sales pitches.
“We have partnered with financial experts from all over the state to bring consumers the most up-to-date information. We encourage all Michigan residents who have financial questions or concerns to sign up and join us for an event in October,” said DIFS Director Patrick McPharlin.
Join experts for a morning or evening of discussion on spending, saving, credit, debt, home ownership, financial scams, pre- and post-retirement planning and more.
