Credit Union Earns Diamond Award for Veterans Documentary
On behalf of FreeStar Financial Credit Union (formerly known as Central Macomb Community Credit Union) in Clinton Township, the Michigan Credit Union League & Affiliates (MCUL) was honored with a 2016 Diamond Award for its work on the custom production, “Vets Returning Home” documentary.
The video entry “Vets Returning Home” documentary won in the Best Original Production category. CU Solutions Group’s CUBE TV Studios created for FreeStar Financial Credit Union, through a grant received from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, in collaboration with the non-profit organization Vets Returning Home. The video highlights how the credit union helps the underserved in the community.
FreeStar Financial has partnered with Vets Returning Home to provide financial education classes and support for veterans working to get back on their feet. The video features how both Vets Returning Home and FreeStar Financial are working together to better the lives of returning veterans.
“Someone who has served our country shouldn’t come home and have to start their life over,” said Drema Isaac, President and CEO of FreeStar Financial Credit Union. “Vets Returning Home truly helps veterans get reestablished in the community, and we are so proud to be a part of that.”
The award was presented by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing & Business Development Council, a national network comprised of over 1,200 credit union marketing and business development professionals. It recognizes outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry.
“The outreach of FreeStar Financial Credit Union in partnership with Vets Returning Home is the kind of community involvement that we find very endearing,” said MCUL CEO Dave Adams. “We are honored to have our CUBE TV team be a part of this amazing cause and we hope the Diamond Award will shed even more light on this wonderful story.”
