Education News

  • Each credit union that sends a full conference attendee to the MCUL/CUSG Annual Convention and Exposition qualifies for complimentary registration for another attendee to register for the INSIDE Credit Union Compliance Workshop, being held June 9 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The separate one-day conference takes place in conjunction with the AC&E and is ideal for operational, mid-managers, compliance officers and lending staff. Agenda topics include "What’s on the Horizon? Proposed Rules/Rulemaking Agenda," "Michigan State Law Update," "How to Effectively Train Board of Directors: Bank Secrecy Act" and "Getting the Most Out of League InfoSight Products." Registration also includes access to the Exposition hall and to the CU Solutions Group Welcome Reception. The educational investment for INSIDE Credit Union Compliance is $129 per person and participants may choose to register for the AC&E Economics Issues Luncheon that same day for just $43 per person.
  • Five Things the Supervisory Committee Needs to Know About Compliance, a webinar offered by the Supervisory Committee Academy (TM), has been rescheduled to July 12. The session will be led by attorney David Reed who will explore how financial institutions are among the most highly regulated entities in the world. He will provide an understanding of the interplay between credit union operations and regulatory compliance as a central element of sound oversight and explore the current state of regulatory compliance and the key components that cannot be ignored. Registration is $249.
  • CUNA will offer a webinar on MSBs: Too Hot to Handle? on May 5 from noon to 1:30 p.m. (ET). Money Service Businesses (MSBs) have been at the center of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance storm and while many institutions are choosing to close these accounts, others are recognizing that MSB’s are worth serving. The webinar will discuss the MSB issues and help attendees understand the path for serving MSBs within the BSA framework.
